Agent Brad Dunlap of the Lake Winnebago Metropolitan Enforcement Group gave a presentation tonight to senior members, cadets, and parents on the current drug issues encountered in the Fox Cities area. Members had an opportunity to see what the different drugs look like and get informed on current trends to watch out for. Squadron welcomes newest members 11/16/2009
Fox Cities Composite squadron welcomes this quarters new members: Cadets Matthew Faust, Caitlin Jackson, Sharniethy Miller, Luke School, and Jordan Young. Senior Members George Jackson and Suzzane Jackson. One of the largest units in the wing, Fox Cities Composite Squadron currently has 32 cadets and 46 senior members. EAA Museum Tour 11/14/2009
On Saturday November 14, 2009, eleven members from Fox Cities Composite Squadron and their guests participated in a tour of the Experimental Aircraft Association Museum in Oshkosh, WI. The trip was organized by 1st Lt Tom Hunt, Assistant Aerospace Education Officer for Fox Cities Composite Squadron, and included a guided tour of the museum, hands-on flight simulator time, and a trip to Kermit Weeks hangar. Weeks is the EAA's Aircraft Maintenance and Restoration hangar, and members were able to see things such as the famous Ford Tri-Motor with a wing off for maintenance and a MiG-15 tucked up by an F-86 Sabre getting ready for renovation. It was a very enjoyable trip and plans are to hold another one in the spring. FCCS Headquarters -- 2nd Lt Matthew Koehler and TFO Monica Bertram were promoted to the grade of 1st Lieutenant in a ceremony held during the weekly unit meeting on November 10, 2009. The new Lieutenants were promoted by Major Terrance Schmitt, commander of Fox Cities Composite Squadron. 1st Lieutenants Koehler and Bertram, both former cadet officers, work closely with the squadron's cadet program and are valued members of the unit. High Cliff State Park, Sherwood, WI -- Members from Stevens Point Composite Squadron joined Fox Cities Composite Squadron for their annual Fall Field Training Exercise (FTX) held at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, WI on Nov 6th, 7th, and 8th. There were more than 27 members in attendance throughout the weekend. Cadets and senior members received instruction in team-building, orienteering, radio direction finding, knot tying, fire making, and other outdoor skills while camping out for two nights. Members also participated in two practice ELT missions to hone the skills they developed during the weekend. Although the main concentration was on Emergency Services training, there was plenty of time for members to socialize and interact with each other. One of the biggest hits of the weekend was the capture the flag game played at night with glow sticks. Even senior members got into the fun! |
